Rutland London offers a timeless collection of luxury cast iron, copper and brass baths. Our cast iron baths are manufactured from elegant moulds and feature a durable vitreous enamel interior and painted exterior. Our copper and brass baths represent the pinnacle of luxury bathroom fittings and are handmade from solid metal sheets with soldered joints. Our range of beautiful baths are regularly supplied throughout the United Kingdom to both retail and commercial clients. Popular destinations for our luxury baths include London, Edinburgh and York. We also often ship our baths overseas to destinations in Europe, North America and Asia.
Cast iron baths offer a classic aesthetic which means they sit comfortably in the grandest of historic settings. The process of manufacturing cast iron baths via a mould means that long, sweeping sides can be incorporated into the design which many customers find to be very comfortable when soaking either alone or “á deaux”. At Rutland London we offer both claw-footed cast iron baths and skirted cast iron baths. Claw-foot baths generally offer a more traditional look but we currently find the majority of demand is for our skirted baths due to their slightly more modern characteristics. Cast iron baths are heavy (in excess of 200kg sometimes!) and can have manufacturing marks which are an unavoidable characteristic of the cast iron moulding process by which they’re made. Copper and brass baths feature a stunning aesthetic which is considered to currently be one of the most lux looks in bathroom design. The natural finish of copper is famous for killing bacteria via its antimicrobial properties so copper baths have been positively viewed in recent years. Copper and brass baths are significantly lighter than their cast iron counterparts (around 50kg). Due to the process in which they’re made, they do however have a slightly more upright bathing position with higher sides which some customers prefer to cast iron.
Yes, all Brass and Copper finishes available from Rutland London are considered to be “living” finishes and will therefore age and patina. The rate and extent of patination will depend on the environment in which you install your bath (temperature, humidity etc). You can learn more about our Brass and Copper finishes here.
Lower cost bath manufacturers supply their baths to be painted onsite. The problem with this is that the consistency and durability of the painted finish can be poor. Rutland London instead paints every single bath we supply in-house. This ensures we’re able to ensure the quality of the painted finish being applied. Furthermore, it allows us to use complex paint application technology from the automotive and aerospace industries to ensure the painted finish of your Rutland London bath is second-to-none.
Whether you’re purchasing a cast iron bath, copper bath or brass bath, we appreciate that you’ll want the option to customise your bath to your exact requirements. That’s why we’re able to paint your bath in any colour you wish including colours from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Edward Bulmer amongst others.
Yes, our range of cast iron baths regularly feature in press features such as our Bryanston Freestanding Bath in Homes & Gardens or our Dolphin Freestanding Bath in Sheerluxe.
Popular baths from Rutland London include our Marlborough Freestanding Copper Bath, Aldermanbury Freestanding Cast Iron Bath and Hereford Freestanding Cast Iron Bath.
Cast iron, copper and brass baths from Rutland London are both financially and physically sizeable purchases. Alongside with checking usual matters such as plumbing arrangements to ensure compatibility, we always remind clients to check that their chosen bath fits prior to purchasing. Remember, you also need to ensure the bath fits not just in your bathroom, but also along the route to the room (with those lifting it stood around it!). Common problematic areas can be small landings on stairs and turns into doorways. Alongside this, if you’re considering a skirted bath (either cast iron, brass or copper), care should be taken to ensure your floor is flat as unlike their claw-footed twins, skirted baths don’t have adjustment.
Whether you’re looking for cast iron, brass or copper bath, we recommend contacting our office by emailing sales@rutlandlondon.co.uk.
